Canadian private-markets investor Northleaf Capital Partners has hired Robert Weiss as a Chicago-based senior advisor to its private credit team. Prior to joining the firm, Weiss was recently retired from Sankaty Advisors, now Bain Capital Credit, where he served as managing director and head of the Chicago office, and was responsible for deal activity related to the firm’s mid-market direct lending business. Last November, Toronto-based Northleaf raised more than US$1.4 billion for its global private credit program and acquired a stake in Antares Holdings.

Robert Weiss joins Northleaf Capital Partners as Senior Advisor on the Private Credit Team

Northleaf Capital Partners is pleased to announce that Robert Weiss has joined our firm as Senior Advisor on the private credit team. Robert is based in the Chicago office and participates in all aspects of Northleaf’s private credit investment activities.
Prior to joining Northleaf, Robert had recently retired from Sankaty Advisors (now Bain Capital Credit) where he had previously been Managing Director and Head of the Chicago Office with responsibilities for sourcing, diligencing, structuring and negotiating senior debt, mezzanine and equity investments for Sankaty’s middle market direct lending business. Previously, Robert was a Consultant at The Boston Consulting Group.
Robert received a B.A. from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.
